Edwin J. Berkowitz named by Rutgers Family Business Institute’s as “Entrepreneur-in-Residence” for 2009
The Family Business Institute at Rutgers School of Business-Camden announces that Edwin J. Berkowitz, owner of a 3rd generation family business located in New Jersey, will serve as “Entrepreneur-in-Residence” for the 2009 program year.
“Our search for a 2009 Entrepreneur-in-Residence could not have resulted in finding a better or more appropriate individual than Edwin Berkowitz”, says Ray Compari, Associate Dean at Rutgers School of Business-Camden and Director of the Family Business Institute. “His leadership, vision and determination directed to the growth of JE Berkowitz, L.P. over three generations and through 88 years in business is really an incredible story. We are honored to have Mr. Berkowitz provide vision for our programs in 2009 and for our program participants to learn from Mr. Berkowitz by attending Family Business Institute public events.”
In this role at Rutgers, Mr. Berkowitz will contribute program direction to Family Business Institute leadership as well as participate in Institute public events and CEO roundtable sessions attended by participating family-owned and closely-held businesses in the Philadelphia metro market.
“I am deeply honored by the Rutgers Family Business Institute to be asked participate in 2009 events and look forward to meeting the many other leaders and owners of family operated businesses in the region at Institute events” says Mr. Berkowitz. “While I still remain active in JE Berkowitz operations, the opportunity to share and learn with other entrepreneurs will be a highlight for me this year.”
Mr. Berkowitz remains chair of JE Berkowitz L.P., earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania, a law degree from Temple Law School and continues his education by attending university-based programs in the Philadelphia area.
JE Berkowitz, L.P. is based in Pedricktown, NJ in a new world-class 200,000 sq ft. production facility and headquarters where they fabricate insulated glass, laminated safety glass and tempered safety glass for the commercial market.
