About Us
The mission of the Rutgers School of Business-Camden Family Business Institute is to provide a forum for family businesses and other closely held businesses to engage with faculty and independent experts using scholarship, teaching and the sharing of best practices to improve and sustain their businesses and optimize their impact on their communities.
The Family Business Institute is organized as an activity of the Rutgers Institute of Management and Executive Development. It consists of a multidisciplinary group of Rutgers faculty. Outreach and teaching activities will be supplemented with conferences and symposiums and produce useable information for business owners, their families, and those professionals who serve them, including researchers, educators, practitioners and consultants.
The Family Business Institute’s goal is to improve outcomes by moving beyond the traditional methods of issue-specific problem solving. By applying multiple sources of insight: the practical expertise of successful family businesses and the rigorous scholarship of Rutgers faculty in multiple disciplines, issues such as family business governance, wealth management and philanthropy can be objectively examined and successfully managed.
